Catch a Wave this Summer at Wave Fest!

Summer is drawing to a close and what with the kids going back to school weekend getaways tend to be much rarer this time of year. However if theatre is your thing then you really should schedule in some time to come and stay at the Ocean View in Santa Monica between September 7th and October 13th. As well as the usual beautiful sights of Santa Monica and the stunning beach which can be seen from the balconies, the hotel itself has been newly renovated and provides the perfect spot for watching the beautiful sunset over the sea. It’s convenient location and affordable rooms boast constant free Wi-Fi access and cable TV with some even being stocked with a mini fridge to make your stay as comfortable as possible.  Why not choose Ocean View as the venue for your perfect wedding, it offers many different wedding packages and can also cater for large groups of people who are travelling together. While it’s true that there are many hotels spread around the City, you will be hard pressed to find one which meets as many of your needs all in one place.

Of particular interest during those dates is the Wave Fest which is a 6 week long short play festival taking place at the church situated in Ocean Park. It is hosted by the Santa Monica repertory Theatre and will feature 15 different short plays written by 15 different playwrights. There are 3 different “waves” of plays and each wave runs for 2 weekends with 5 being shown each night. It is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas which is a non-profit arts service organization. As each of the three waves has a different theme it is highly recommended that you see them all if you can. Tickets are $20 and can be booked online, as seating is very limited inside the church and spaces are filling up fast it is a good idea to pre-book to avoid disappointment. If you will be at one of the places to stay in Santa Monica why not combine your stay with a few of these short plays, or even have a go at writing one yourself. There are no age limits involved with the plays and many can be enjoyed by all of the family, however if you are not sure about anything then you can always call the Santa Monica Rep who will be able to answer any questions you may have.
