October is a great time to visit Santa Monica, and not just for Halloween! If you’re staying in Santa Monica beach hotels, consider attending Santa Monica’s answer to Oktoberfest, the Beer Art and Music Festival! The BAM Fest brings locally produced art and music to the heart of Santa Monica with delicious craft beers.
BAM Fest will have 35+ breweries, four bands, three art galleries, open artist studios, an artist market and gourmet food trucks to entertain guests all day. LA craft beer industry veteran Martin Svab of Stone Brewery and Naja’s Place helped facilitate the beer side of the festival. Beer offered will include large brands like Sierra Nevada and Firestone Walker as well as Angel City, Road and Surf Brewing.
The fest will feature new work by 18th Street’s Lab Artist Camon Oro-Giron. The work uses sculpture, video, painting, music and performance to represent Spanish music, folk, pop and much more. The themes of tourism, revolution, design and public sculpture are touched upon in the gallery.
The music of BAM Fest will be as diverse as the cuisine. “The Americans” will play rock and roll sounds with roots in the blues, country and Appalachian folk music. Sultry vocals and feminist chicana lyrics along with taiko drums makes for an interesting combination with the artists “Lysa Flores and East LA Taiko.” Native to LA, “American Bloomers” plays pop music influenced by classic rock and folk. Finally, “The Dustbowl Revival “will perform bluegrass, blues and hot swing to keep the crowd jamming all day!
Food trucks at BAM Fest will include the Border Grill Truck, the Nom Nom Truck, the Green Truck, Baby’s Baddass Burgers, Let’s Be Frank Dogs and Fresh Brother’s Pizza. Free pizza samples will be given out.
