If you love to eat and drink, here’s a great way to enjoy delicious cuisine and support a great cause at the same time. The Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Food Fare will be held Thursday, March 8 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. It’s a great opportunity to support Planned Parenthood after the company recently made headlines.
Restaurants participating in the event include: A.O.C. Ammo, Angelini Osteria, Craft, Church & State, Drago Central, Clementine, FOOD, Joe's Restaurant, Lemonade, Michael's, M Cafe, Loteria, The Spice Table, Momed, Waterloo & City, Public Kitchen & Bar, Tavern, Lucques and many more. Some of Los Angeles’ most popular Food Trucks will also be present, including the Border Grill Truck and Grilled Cheese Truck. In total over 150 of the city’s best restaurants, caterers, wineries, florists and performers will be under one roof in Santa Monica.
As part of the festivities, LA native chef Suzanne Goin will be honored with the Chef of the Year award. She has worked in fine American restaurants in Los Angeles, Providence, and Berkeley. She also worked in Paris of three years before returning to the States to continue to refine her craft. She has opened three successful restaurants in Los Angeles, Lucques, A.O.C and Tavern, and written a cookbook called Sunday Suppers at Lucques.
In addition to the wonderful food at this event, Velvet by Graham and Spencer created three limited edition tees that feature the Planned Parenthood slogan “Love Carefully.” The tees will be available in women’s, men’s and children’s sizes and will exclusively be sold at Food Fare.
The Food Fare started as a cooking demonstration with Julia Child in 1979. Many celebrities have attended in the past and are likely to do so this year as well. The 2012 Food Fare will have daytime and evening sessions lasting from 10:30am to 2pm and 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Advance tickets are $150 for the daytime session and $225 for the evening. If you happen to be staying at a hotel near the Santa Monica pier, why not spend the cash to attend a high profile event such as Food Fare? Buy your tickets here today!
