Back for the fifth time, the annual Santa Monica Pub Crawl is rapidly becoming a key event of the festive calendar in the area and is set to be bigger and better than ever this year. Booked for the December 14th, participants come together to celebrate the holiday season with friends and family alike. Last year, more than five thousand people took part in the Pub Crawl and managed to raise more than $20,000 in sponsorship and donations for the Westside Food Bank. With hopes that this year will exceed the last both in fun and fundraising, people are getting themselves ready with their costumes for another fantastic night. If you already know where to stay in Santa Monica, then be sure to join in on this fun event.
Starting at 5pm, the pub crawl encompasses numerous routes around the city to which each registered group assigns themselves when they sign up. Twenty five of the city’s best and biggest bars, pubs and restaurants are taking part to help spread the holiday spirit and raise money. Each participant has a wristband, which entitles them to special holiday drink and food deals at each of the Pub Crawl venues. Incorporating bars and restaurants on Wilshire, The Pier, Third Street Promenade, 4th Street and Main Street, the crawl will make its way right through the very heart of Downtown Santa Monica. Each participant has paid a small donation as an entrance fee and it is this payment which helps to create the money to donate to the Westside Food Bank.
Fancy dress is not optional for this event – the streets of the city will be overflowing with Santa and Mrs. Claus, elves, snowmen, reindeer, carol singers, Christmas puddings and many more outfits besides. Everyone taking part has to dress up to help spread the cheer and to get the most from this unique charity event. For obvious reasons, participants in the 2013 Santa Monica Pub Crawl must be over the age of 21.
