It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays in Los Angeles! If you’re staying in Santa Monica boutique hotels after Thanksgiving, be sure to
sign up for the Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run! One of Los Angeles’ most popular running events, the Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run has a 5K and a 10K run traveling through the beautiful streets of Santa Monica and Venice, California including the Venice Beach boardwalk.
Registration opens at 6am to December 8. At 7:30am the 10K starts and at 9:15am the 5K starts. The Kids Fun Fun along Barnard Way starts at 10:15am. Everyone is encouraged to wear costumes for the contest at 10am. Awards will be given to the best individual, family and group costumes.
The official starter for the Christmas Run is Sonny Seyedi, retired Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. In 2006 he was injured in Iraq. He had to endure multiple surgeries and four years of cognitive therapy with support from The Wounded Warrior Project.
Awards are available for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Awards, Male and Female categories in both 5K and 10K. Age divisions are 0-12, 13-18, 19-24 and every four years until 70+. Race parking is $8 per vehicle. Bring your parking fee in exact change to avoid long lines! Bikes and taking the bus are strongly encouraged.
General registration for both races is $40 until December 6, and $45 after. Price includes a Long Sleeve Tech Shirt. Double Run is $5 more. The Kids Fun Run is $15 before December 6 and $20 after. You can register on-line here. Packet pick-up is on December 7 from 12pm to 7pm at TriFit Club & Studios.
This is a great way to explore the beach communities of Santa Monica and Venice. Hope to see you running on December 8!
