The Santa Monica Farmers Market is one of the largest farmer’s markets in all of Southern California. With four different locations in Santa Monica open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday and other days seasonally, a wide array of produce and live entertainment is available to residents and visitors of Los Angeles alike.
An estimated 900,000 shoppers visit the Santa Monica farmers markets every year for the highest quality seasonal produce
and farm products from California growers. Some of the items that can be found at the farmers markets include sunflowers, peaches, vegetables, broccoli, squash, grapes, green beans and much more. Each market is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag), meaning you can pick up your own free bag at any participating location. This program is also asking for bag donations at participating locations. Everyone is welcome at the Santa Monica Farmers Markets, but please leave your pets at home.
Along with great produce, the Santa Monica Farmers Markets also have special seasonal events that are fun for the whole family. On Wednesday, October 27, pumpkins will be sold at the downtown location along the 25 foot long pumpkin patch lane for $5 until out of stock. On Saturday October 29, and Sunday, October 30, starting at 10am, kids can bring their pumpkins to the Main Street Farmer’s Market for free pumpkin decorating. Every Thursday night from 7-8:30pm in November workshops will be held at the Santa Monica Public Library to teach DIY holiday gift ideas, as well as sustainable and green living tips. For a full schedule of events, check out the website sidebar here.
Don’t forget to check out one of the Santa Monica Farmers Market locations this holiday season. You might just learn something new while shopping for all the best produce!
